At Shadow Contractor, our work is about more than construction-it’s about building a better future for our family and others like ours. That mission became deeply personal in July 2019, when our daughter Roe (“Roe Roe”) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes just one week before her third birthday.
That day changed our lives forever. What began with a few days of unusual thirst and sleepless nights turned into an emergency trip to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the heartbreaking news that Roe’s body was in crisis. Since then, she’s faced each day with courage most adults couldn’t imagine, from constant blood sugar monitoring and insulin doses, to wearing medical devices that help keep her alive.
Despite it all, Roe continues to shine. She’s fearless, funny, and full of life. She proudly tells people about her diabetes and showing others what strength truly looks like. She inspires us every single day.
To honor her fight and help others living with Type 1 Diabetes, each year it is our intention to donate up to 5% of our annual invoiced revenue to support Type 1 diabetes research and advocacy efforts.
While the exact amount may vary based on business expenses, our commitment to making a meaningful impact never does. This is our way of giving back and helping move closer to a cure for Roe, and for every child and family walking this same path.
Together, we can help build a world where kids like Roe grow up free from Type 1 Diabetes.
